Service Overview

Cold forging is a high-efficiency metal forming process where a component is shaped at room temperature using high pressure. At R.K. Industries, cold forging is one of our core specialties, enabling us to produce high-strength, near-net shape components with exceptional dimensional accuracy. By combining in-house die design with hydraulic press technology, we reduce material wastage, eliminate multiple machining steps, and manufacture components that are lighter, stronger, and more cost-effective — all without compromising on quality.

Our Capabilities

R.K. Industries is equipped with a complete cold forging setup, backed by decades of expertise and continuous investment in advanced technology. Our capabilities include:

300 Ton and 100 Ton Hydraulic Presses for high-force forging
In-House Forging Die Design & Manufacturing for tailored geometries
Custom tooling development for project-specific component shapes
Glass Bead & Shot Blasting Machines for post-forging surface cleaning
Annealing Facilities using pit furnaces for stress relief when required
Multi-shift production support to handle medium to high volume runs
Forging-First Process Flow for material efficiency and mechanical strength

With our integrated approach, we provide better cycle times, lower operational costs, and consistent part performance — whether for automotive, agriculture, or industrial applications.

Process Flow

01

Tool & Die Design

Component geometry is analyzed, and forging dies are developed in-house using CAD/CAM

02

Raw Material Preparation

Material rods or billets are selected and cut to size

03

Cold Forging Operation

The blank is formed using a 300T or 100T hydraulic press under high pressure at room temperature

04

Trimming & Deburring

Excess flash or deformities are removed to achieve the net shape

05

Post-Forging Treatment

Glass bead or shot blasting is used for surface refinement; annealing is performed if required

06

Final Inspection

Forged parts undergo dimensional and surface checks before moving to the next stage

Applications / Industries Served

Cold forged components are widely used where strength, precision, and cost-efficiency are crucial. At R.K. Industries, this service supports:

  • Typical Components: Gear blanks, bushings, flanges, collars, spacers, shaft heads
  • Industries Served:
    • Automotive (Engine & Chassis Components)
    • Agriculture (Tractor Transmission & Drive Parts)
    • General Machinery & Fasteners
    • Heavy Equipment and Power Tools

Our cold forging process is ideal for producing parts that require excellent fatigue resistance and material efficiency.

Quality & Inspection

Every cold forged component is subjected to multi-stage inspection to ensure it meets design and material specifications. Our quality ecosystem includes:

Dimensional Inspection: ZEISS CMM, Contour & Rondcom systems
Surface Testing: Vision measuring system and roughness tester
Structural Integrity Checks: MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) and Eddy Current Testing
Material Verification: PMI (Positive Material Identification – Ordered)
Hardness Testing: Digital & analog Rockwell testers
Traceability & Sorting: Auto-sorting machine (Accuvision) and laser marking system for part identification

All cold forging processes follow IATF, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards, ensuring total process control and client assurance.
